Our inspiration for the shoes is my beautiful daughter Emma. Emma was diagnosed on 7/14/05 at the age of 22 months with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertention. She spent 2 months in the hospital with a few other hospital stays thereafter. She was one of quadruplets born 14 weeks early. (Her brother James passed away at 5 days old.) She weighed in at a whooping 13 1/2 ounces.
She was so smart (could read, spell at 2 1/2) and so funny and just filled up a room with her smile. She especially loved animals! She adored bumblebees, butterflies, zebras, giraffe, spiders and just about every animal you could name.
She had zebra pants and shirts and had a black and white pair of shoes she called zebras. So we decided to make her an actual pair of zebra shoes!! Thus, snanimals begins.
On January 19, 2007, Emma passed away unexpectedly in her sleep. We are devastated and sorrowful but believe she lives on in every pair of shoes we make. So when we say they are handpainted with love, it is more love than you could ever know.
I want to point out that Emma had the best Cardiologist ever, Dr. Brian Hanna from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Dr. Hanna   He treated Emma with love and respect and we couldn't have found a better match for her spirit and needs. Thank you!
